XI Medieval Market 14th & 15th May 2022

The historic center of Vila de Rei will go back in time, returning to the Middle Ages, with the XI Medieval Market. This year the event extends in time, taking place on 14 and 15 May. In addition to the historical recreation, with characters dressed strictly, there will also be sale of handmade and endogenous products in exhibitors in addition to moments of musical animation, theater and traditional games. Registration for exhibitors is open until April 22.

The Medieval Market is once again organization of the Municipality of Vila de Rei, with the support of the Grouping of Schools and Parish Council of Vila de Rei, being marked this return after two years of interregnum caused by the pandemic of covid-19.

"The Medieval Market is already one of the main cultural landmarks of the municipality, receiving hundreds of visitors who attend and participate in this historic recreation", stresses the municipality vilarregense in a statement sent to the press.

Between Largo da Misericórdia, Rua Rainha Santa Isabel and surrounding streets, they will parade costumed extras strictly, portraying figures and moments of the Middle Ages, all wrapped in a comprehensive cultural program that will contain theater, music, animation and traditional games, in addition to the shows of crafts and possibility to taste the local gastronomy, through the streets of the historic center of the village. The program also contains a moment of celebration dedicated to Queen St. Elizabeth.
